AIHEC AIMS

This site serves as the primary data hub for AIHEC's American Indian Measure of Success (AIMS) and is a key component of the AIMS Redesign initiative.

This landmark data collection initiative was launched in 2004 with generous funding from the Lumina Foundation for Education. AIHEC developed the data collection instrument, AIMS Key Indicator System (AKIS), with input from AIHEC, TCUs, accrediting organizations, American Indian College Fund (AICF), Bureau of Indian Affairs, and others. AKIS incorporates unique measures of success that are not included in traditional higher education reporting requirements.

In 2023, AIHEC initiated a comprehensive review and redesign of AKIS, focusing on simplifying data collection and reporting, standardizing data definitions, optimizing AIMS metrics, and increasing data accessibility. The redesign process is being guided by a committee comprised of IR professionals from seven TCUs as well as AIHEC and AICF research staff.

AIHEC AIMS consists of two parts: quantitative and qualitative. The numbers support the stories, and the stories bring the numbers to life. Together, they help to paint the picture and tell the story of the Tribal College Movement.

Although still under development, this site will eventually offer data access through public dashboards, historical AIMS data, and institution-specific dashboards. For now, please use the link below for any specific or tailored data requests.
